The Climate Smart Food, Digital Summit 2021 will be broadcast over four days, from September 27 to September 30. The interactive broadcast series’ three themes are Supply Chain and Scope 3, Sustainable Consumption, and Food Tech Innovation.
Climate-smart food production has risen to the top of the priority list for food manufacturers, regulators, retailers, and consumers alike, as a result of the impending climate crisis. Food industry titans are outlining their zero-emission goals and plans for carbon-neutral production. Rather than looking at their operations in isolation, CPGs are beginning to count the carbon cost of the food they produce across scopes one, two, and three of the value chain. During this four-day interactive broadcast event, FoodNavigator will look at supply chain issues, ways to encourage a sustainable consumption shift, and food-tech innovation for food system transformation.
The event’s central question is: How can food system transformation support the transition to healthy and sustainable diets? The content will cover a variety of topics, such as regenerative agriculture and land-use change, as well as upcycling, nutritional diversification, and biotech. The goal of the event is to look beyond net-zero targets and ask what changes the food industry needs to make to get there, with a strong emphasis on practical information. Speakers will include representatives from the food sector, non-governmental organizations, and academia.
Grigoris Chatzikostas, Vice President of Business Development at Foodscale Hub, will be one of the speakers, representing the ROBS4CROPS project, in which Foodscale Hub is managing the overall communication and designing novel business models to capture specific circumstances and expertise of partners involved – aligned with current market opportunities. He will discuss the current need for drastic changes in the way we produce and consume food. Reflecting on ROBS4CROPS, he will highlight the type of innovation that will define the future of the food system. Many people believe that digital developments will be critical in the agricultural sector’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint. We speculate on the future of agricultural production, from precision agriculture to blockchain and vertical farms.
