After many years of trial and error, agricultural robots are now rapidly becoming available for real farm work. At the moment dozens of robots are for sale or for rent. There are also already some contractors who use autonomous field robots.
But the reality is that there are hardly any farmers in the Netherlands who invest in field robots. This while the suppliers promise that autonomous robots save on labour, are much more soil-friendly and can help to reduce the use of chemicals and fertilizers. A missed opportunity?
During this webinar, experts from Wageningen University & Research presented the latest developments in the field of robotization in open cultivation. Together with developers of robots and professionals from the field, they discussed the barriers there are for growers to invest in robots, such as costs and benefits.
